In Full Bloom

Thursday, April 25th, 2013

When planning your spring event this year, don’t forget to add some bright colors – even if it’s just a pop! Here are some great events over the past few years, where the use of color created an amazing space.

Mixing bright colors adds dimension to your event space. Try an even mix throughout the venue or a base pattern with pops of a contrasting color.

A muted base combined with pops of bright color adds an element of surprise. We love the sparkle of the dining cloths and crystals with a great mix of fresh spring flowers.

Select colors already present in your room and pair them up in the linen design, side by side in bold strokes.  Watch how your eye is drawn to the crisp, sharp contrast.  Bold color blocking adds energy and fun to any space.

Ready for Spring?

Wednesday, February 13th, 2013

After that Blizzard of 2013, who isn’t ready for Spring? Spring isn’t just a season; it’s a state of mind. And just like fashion designers, here at Table Toppers, we keep an eye on the top trends in colors for each season. Think spring and let’s kick off the wedding season, graduation parties, simple family barbeques and everything in between. Pantone has some of the best colors for spring 2013, and we have them for your next events’ linens. We’ve pulled some of our current in-stock linen selections that match Pantones Spring 2013 Colors:

Lemon Zest – Pantone Color 13-0756 is a bright yellow that brightens up any space, and our Canary Yellow Formenti, Yellow Square Lock or Grey & Yellow Daisies are perfect to do the same.

African Violet – Pantone Color 16-3520 is a purple that goes with any combination of color, our Lilac Fiore Collection has great accents as well.

Emerald – Pantone Color 17-5641 and Nectarine – Pantone Color 16-1360 are seen in our Coral Splendo or Coral Sea Shells.

Poppy Red – Pantone Color 17-1664 is a bold red that can be used in our Red White Canopy Stripe, Red Kunas or Red Vonn.

Tender Shoots – Pantone Color 14-0446 can be used for those pops of bright color; our Apple Green Peau de Soie, Wisteria Sonata over Apple Green Peau de Soie or Apple Crushed Taffeta are great to do the trick.

Chair treatments extend your event design beyond the table. They can add elegance, drama, fun, and playfulness.  At Table Toppers we have  custom chair treatments and in-stock chair treatments of all types, from crop tops and cushions to full covers and bows. Here is a sampling.

Don’t forget, when a room is set and the dining tables are ready to receive your guests, the chairs are in place.  Think about how the back of the chair will impact your look.

Napkin Presentations for All Occasions

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

The same way a perfect pair of shoes completes your outfit, a perfect napkin completes your place setting. Napkins greet your guests after everyone is seated.  They must look great but remain functional to be used as… well… napkins… Here are some of our favorite napkin presentations.

This pointed triangle fold shows off the detail of the satin ribbon along the edges of a black voile napkin.  A rhinestone brooch makes a great napkin embellishment and doubles as a gift for each guest to take home.

A cylindrical rolled napkin tied with silver and crystal cords is a space saver when table top real estate is at a premium and a 6 course wine paired menu is the focal point of the presentation.

Raffia ties on gathered dupioni silk napkins are just plain luxurious.  Dupioni napkins are available in any color imaginable.

Double the napkin and double the fun.   What better color combination than red, white and black.

A graceful fan fold combined with a beaded napkin ring showcases the texture and body of formenti linen napkins.

All that glitters!!!  Gorgeous beaded napkin rings hold a double napkin treatment.  White hemstitch napkins are covered with organdy beaded covers.

The exquisite embroidery and scalloped edges on these organdy napkins begs to be showcased.  A simple triangle fold placed under the charger and dropped over the side of the table accomplishes that beautifully.

Linens for a Beach Wedding

Monday, April 9th, 2012

So you have your heart set on a beach wedding.   As you set out to choose your décor, remember the importance of table linens. Tablecloths, chair covers, napkins, flowers, lighting and props all work together.  If you are thinking about eliminating the linen to save money…big mistake.  Linen, dollar for dollar, gives you the biggest visual impact.  Below are some examples of the perfect pairing of fabrics in both remote beachfront escapes and gorgeous high end hotels.  In both venues, the linens were essential to the design.

The White Elephant Hotel was the scene of this picture perfect day on Nantucket (above).  Event planner, Linda Matzkin, from Hopple Popple designed custom linens for the venue.  Lighting design by Suzanne B. Lowell Lighting Design, Flowers by Columbine Floral Design.

Event planner Linda Matzkin from Hopple Popple  integrated traditional dining tables and chairs to the unspoiled beauty of a pristine Caribbean beach (shown above).  To dress the tables in this natural environment, we used an embroidered coral patterned fabric woven with 100% flax linen.   Guests experienced the comfort of having traditional tables and chairs while enjoying fine dining on a spectacular beach.

As we bid you adieu…. study the best Bon Voyage Dinner ever (shown above).  Simple and fun, these family style dining tables pop right off the sand.  Periwinkle, Lime and Grotto Blue cotton linen with alternating dinner napkins set the tone.   Hopple Popple  thought of everything guests could need to enjoy one last night in paradise.  A beautifully designed, complete beach wedding weekend.
